BASILAN – Dalawang miyembro ng Abu Sayyaf Group na sinasabing sangkot sa 2018 bomb attack sa isang military checkpoint sa Basilan ang sumuko sa mga awtoridad .
Sa tulong ng ilang local government ng official ng bayan ng Hadji Mohammad Ajul, isinuko sa mga tauhan ng 4th Special Forces Battalion, 19th Special Forces Company ng Philippine Army ang dalawang miyembro ng teroristang grupo.
Ayon kay Major Arvin Encinas, taga-pagsalita ng AFP Western Mindanao Command, bitbit ang kanilang mga sandata sumuko sina Suwaib Mungkay, a.k.a. Black, at Nakib Asmad, a.k.a. Halifa kina Hon. Ibrahim Ballaho, local chief executive ng HMA at Cpt. James Dipdip, Jr., pinuno ng Philippine Army 19SFC.
“Mungkay and Asmad were involved in the Lamitan bombing last July 31, 2018,” pahayag naman ni Brig. Gen. Fernando Reyeg, commander of the Joint Task Force Basilan.
“As I always say, peace is a shared responsibility. I am happy that our partners and stakeholders are always there to support us in our peace campaigns,” pahayag naman ni Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander ng Western Mindanao Command.
“Through our convergence, we are able to sustain the momentum and attain positive results in our journey towards peace and sustainable development here in the region,”dagdag pa nito.
