HINILING ni Anakalusugan at Quezon City mayoralty bet Mike Defensor sa Department of Health (DOH) na ipatupad na ang kautusan ng Palasyo ng Malacañang na dagdag na P3,053 sa basic salary ng government nurses.

Ginawa ni Defensor ang nasabing apela matapos makarating sa kanyang kaalaman na maraming nurse sa Quezon City kasama ang mga nagtatrabaho sa Veterans Medical Memorial Center sa North Avenue, ang hindi pa nakatatanggap ng karagdagang sahod.

“DOH should compel these hospitals to follow the June 1, 2021 memorandum of Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea reversing the demotion by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) of government nurses,” ayon sa mambabatas.

Nakasaad din aniya memorandum ni Medialdea na i-upgrade ang posisyon at kompensasyon ng nursing personnel mula Nurse 1 sa Nurse II at Salary Grade (SG) 16 mula sa kasalukuyang SG 15.

Sa statement aniya ng Nursing Staff Association ng Philippine General Hospital (PGH), 823 sa 1,142 nurse sa nasabing pagamutan ay Nurse II holder na subalit na-demote ang mga ito sa Nurse 1.

Dahil dito, imbes na P38,150 hanggang P41,172 ang kanilang basic salary ay P35,097 pa rin natatanggap ng mga ito.

“This means that most nurses in public hospitals, including those in local government units (LGUs) throughout the country, should be receiving additional compensation of P3,053 to P6,075 a month,” ayon kay Defensor.

Dahil dito, kailangang obligahin aniya ang government hospitals at maging ang Local Government Units (LGUs) na ipatupad na ang memorandum ng Malacañang lalo na’t umiiral na ang 2022 national budget.

“Non-compliant agencies should also pay their personnel a salary differential for six months because the OP directive was effective June 1, 2021,” ayon pa sa mambabatas.

Sa ngayon, ay iilan pa lamang umano ang sumunod sa nasabing memorandum kasama na rito ang National Kidney and Transplant Institute sa East Avenue, Quezon City, subalit karamihan ay ayaw sumunod. (BERNARD TAGUINOD)
