INIREKOMENDA ng Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) ang mas pinahigpit na regulasyon at one-strike policy para sa driving schools at pribadong kompanya na tumutulong sa mga fixer sa kanilang illegal activities.
Nabunyag na karamihan sa fixing activities ay mayroong sabwatan ng mga empleyado ng Land Transportation Office (LTO), driving schools, emission centers, at medical clinics, base sa serye ng entrapment operations at imbestigasyon na isinagawa ng ARTA katuwang ang Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group sa LTO branches.
Ang mga operasyon at paglansag sa fixers ay naging matagumpay matapos ang koordinasyon sa central offices ng LTO at Department of Transportation (DOTr).
Sa kabilang dako, ipinanukala naman ni Secretary Jeremiah Belgica, Director General ng ARTA, ang suspensyon sa mga driving school at private companies na may “substantiated complaints” o prohibited practices habang nasa ilalim ng imbestigasyon.
Ang rekomendasyon ay pormal na isinumite kay DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade noong Mayo 19.
“We suggest that LTO lay down measures that will determine the authenticity of certificates of completion of driving examinations offered by private accredited entities,” dagdag na pahayag ni Belgica.
Noong Martes, inaresto ang isang releasing officer na nakatalaga sa LTO Novaliches, Quezon City dahil sa pagbibigay ng illegal services sa mga aplikante ng student permits. (CHRISTIAN DALE)
