INILAHAD ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr., ang mga pakinabang na bunga ng kanyang six-day working visit sa Estados Unidos sa kanyang pagbabalik-bansa nitong Linggo ng umaga.

Dumating si Pangulong Marcos sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 ng alas-6:30 ng umaga.

Winelcome siya sa NAIA 2 nina Vice President Sara Duterte, nagsilbing caretaker ng Pilipinas habang ang Pangulo ay wala sa bansa. Kasama rin sina Armed Forces chief Lieutenant General Bartolome Vicente Bacarro, Philippine Army Commanding General Lieutenant General Romeo Brawner Jr., Philippine Air Force Vice Commanding General Major General Arthur Cordura, Philippine Navy Vice Commander Rear Admiral Caesar Bernard Valencia; Cabinet members; Pasay City Representative Antonino Calixto; at Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano.

Sa kanyang arrival statement, tinukoy ni Pangulong Marcos ang achievements at activities sa panahon ng kanyang trip sa Estados Unidos mula Setyembre 18 hanggang 24.

Unang nakapulong ni Pangulong Marcos ang Filipino community sa New Jersey na aniya, “their smiles, songs, welcoming took away the weariness of the 16-hour flight to Manila.”

“I thanked them for the work that they do and their contributions to the Philippines, the community, and the United States,” ayon sa Pangulo.

Ang main event ng kanyang biyahe ay ang delivery ng kanyang national statement sa idinaos na 77th session ng United Nations General Assembly.

“I addressed global issues such as climate change, rising food prices, rapid technological change, the peaceful resolution of international disputes, the need to protect the vulnerable sectors of our society such as migrants, and ending all forms of prejudice,” ayon sa Pangulo.

Nakipagpulong din aniya siya sa mga business leader ng ilang US companies at lahat sila ay nagpahayag ng kahandaang maging bahagi ng development and economic growth ng Pilipinas.

Ibinahagi rin ng Pangulo na “very warm” ang naging pagpupulong niya kay dating US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, na may dominant voice sa Cold War diplomacy ng Washington.

Sa kanyang pagbisita sa New York para sa United Nations General Assembly — humirit si Pangulong Marcos ng audience kay Kissinger, ang 1973 Nobel Peace Price winner na sa edad 99 ay nananatiling “sought-after figure” sa global stage para sa kanyang karanasan sa “statecraft at policymaking.”

“We had a very, shall we say, satisfying meeting with Dr. Henry Kissinger,” ang pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.

“He recalled my father, my mother, their relationship, friendship,” dagdag na pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos, kinokonsidera ang miting kay Kissinger bilang isa sa highlights ng kanyang six-day working visit.

Ayon pa sa Pangulo, inalala ni Kissinger ang pagbisita nito sa Pilipinas at nagpahayag na nais nitong muling makita ang dating Unang Ginang Imelda Marcos na 93 taong gulang na.

“He was asking me for my views. He was asking how we are doing in the Philippines. And he said: ‘I want to call on your mother.’ I said: ‘Of course, my mother will be very happy when she sees you,'” ayon kay Pangulong Marcos.

Dahil dito, inimbitahan niya si Kissinger na bumisita sa Pilipinas.

Kaugnay nito, binati ng liderato ng mababang kapulungan ng Kongreso si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., sa kanyang matagumpay at produktibong biyahe sa US.

“The President wasted no time in his efforts to put the Philippines again in the investments map of the world. At a time when nations struggle to bounce back from the ill effects of the pandemic on economies, our President hit the ground running and worked almost round the clock to bring home much-needed investments,” paglalarawan ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Ayon kay Romualdez na kabilang sa delegasyon ni Marcos, handa ang Kongreso na ibigay ang lahat ng batas na kailangan ng Pangulo para mapaunlad pa ang ekonomiya ng Pilipinas.

“We at the House of Representatives will help in making these investment pledges come to fruition. If the President needs any piece of legislation to materialize the objectives of these bilateral trade and investment agreements, we will answer the call,” ani Romualdez.

Sa ngayon aniya ay tinatrabaho na ng Kapulungan ang priority bills ng Malacañang tulad ng eCommerce Bill, National Government Rightsizing Program, eGovernance Act, pag-amyenda sa Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) at Build-Operate-Transfer Law. (CHRISTIAN DALE/BERNARD TAGUINOD)
