HINDI binuwag kundi isinailalim sa reorganization ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ang Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG) ni Vice President Sara Duterte.

Paglilinaw ito ng AFP at sinabing bahagi pa rin ito ng kanilang rationalization at streamlining na sinimulang ipatupad noong February 2025 at aprubado ng Department of National Defense.

“This administrative adjustment was undertaken to unify security and protection operations. It ensures the continued, uninterrupted and robust protection of the Vice President within a more integrated and optimized framework,” pahayag ng AFP Public Affair Office chief Xerxes Trinidad.

Ginawa ng AFP ang paglilinaw matapos umugong ang mga balitang binuwag na umano ang mismong security detail ni VP Sara.

Sa inilabas na pahayag ng AFP, hindi binuwag ang VPSPG at nilinaw na nagsagawa lamang sila ng mga adjustment sa hanay nito kung saan pinalitan at ginawa na itong AFP Security and Protection Group (AFPSPG).

Samantala, iginiit din ng AFP na mas makatutulong ito para matiyak ang proteksyon ng Pangalawang Pangulo, hindi lamang sa ngayon kundi hanggang sa mga susunod pang opisyal.

“It is worth noting that the VPSPG was only created in June 2022. Prior to this, Vice Presidents were secured by the Security and Protection Battalion under the AFP General Headquarters and Headquarters Support Command, with no dedicated military security group. As such, the current set-up is a more efficient and effective way to ensure the safety and security of the present and future Vice Presidents,” paliwanag ni Col. Trinidad.

Kaugnay nito ay umapela ang Hukbong Sandatahan ng Pilipinas sa ilang kababayan na iwasan na ang pagpapakalat ng mali o misleading information at sa halip umano’y gamitin na lamang ang ating mga communication platform sa pagsusulong ng pagkakaisa, kapayapaan at pagkakaunawaan at hindi paghahasik ng pagkakawatak-watak, galit at pagkahati-hati.
