“We will deploy additional police personnel to maintain peace and order in our city. We would also like to ask our residents to stay at home so we can avoid the spread of COVID-19,” ani QCPD Director B/Gen. Antonio Yarra.

SJDM LGU maglalaan ng libreng pabahay SUPORTA SA NPA BINAWI NG 224 BAYAN MUNA, KADAMAY MEMBERS SA BULACAN

0

Lawrence Dalipe at iba pa.

Col.

“We will work closely with the NHA to formulate an order to enable them to own housing units that are available in SJDM and give them livelihood assistance to bring them employment,” pahayag ng alkalde.

Meralco further extends NO DISCONNECTION until Mid-May

0

The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) said on Wednesday that it is continuing the suspension of all disconnection activities in its franchise area until May 14, 2021 following the Government’s announcement extending the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ), covering National Capital Region, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal, until mid-May.

“Given the current situation and the extended MECQ, we continue to take into consideration the challenges our customers are facing amid these difficult times. Thus, we will continue to put on hold all disconnection activities until May 14, 2021,” Ferdinand O. Geluz, Meralco FVP and Chief Commercial Officer, said.

He added, “We hope this additional extension will help ease the burden of our customers, while providing the necessary relief and additional time for them to settle their bills.”

Geluz said Meralco will continue to be very considerate during this period and vowed to assist its customers in need of help with their concerns.

Meralco again reiterated that it will continue vital operations such as meter reading, following the order of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), and will also continue to work round the clock to serve its customers.

“Meralco business operations, including meter reading and bill delivery activities, will continue throughout the MECQ. Our continued operations will ensure that actual consumption for the month will be billed accordingly. But rest assured there will be strict implementation of health protocols in order to safeguard the health and safety of both customers and our personnel,” Geluz said.

The ERC, in an advisory last year, encouraged customers who have the ability to pay to settle their bills within the original due date “to help manage the cash flow in the energy supply chain and ensure the continuous supply of electricity.”

Meralco likewise encouraged customers to send a personal message (PM) via Facebook Messenger, Twitter or call its 16211 hotline before going to Meralco Business Centers (BCs), which will be on skeleton force, for any inquiries and concerns on billing and payments as a precaution to the rising number of COVID-19 cases. This measure ensures that customers can save time and effort, but more importantly, minimizes any potential and unnecessary exposure to the virus.

Meralco BCs will remain open to accept payments, applications and customer assistance. Business hours will be from 7am to 3pm on skeleton workforce, in compliance to IATF guidelines, from Monday to Friday and 7am to 12pm on Saturdays.

“Meralco crews will also continue to be on standby 24/7 to respond to any emergencies and reports,” Geluz added.

Meralco’s customer touchpoints include the Meralco website at www.MERALCO.com.ph, and its social media accounts on twitter @MERALCO, on Facebook at www.facebook.com/MERALCO, and the Meralco Hotline at 16211. Customers can also send emails to customercare@meralco.com.ph.

Globe completes 38 site upgrades in Leyte and Southern Leyte provinces in Q1 2021

0

Globe completed 34 site upgrades in Leyte and four more locations in Southern Leyte, or a total of 38 from January to March this year.

This includes 12 site upgrades in the municipality of Abuyog, which now experiences improved calls, SMS and data browsing services.

“Dati mahirap kasi, naghahanap pa kami ng signal para lang magkaroon ng internet. Sumasakay pa kami, namamasahe para makakuha signal at at makasagot kami sa mga module.  Pero ngayon magaan na, hindi na kami gumagastos sa pamasahe. Para sa amin, hulog ng langit ang cell site,” said Arabella Grace Padrique, a student from barangay Cagbolo, Abuyog.

The modernization has not only benefited students in the two provinces but even those who rely on the internet as they work from home.

“Kung meron po kami ng mga forms kami na iddownload madali na lang po. Hindi gaya ng dati na wala pong cell site,” added Jay Soniedo, a teacher in one of the schools of the municipality.

Globe also installed one new tower each in Tacloban City and Baybay City last month.

“We are looking to install more cell towers and complete more site upgrades in Eastern Visayas as internet connectivity plays a major role in helping communities survive the effects of the pandemic. By making our presence stronger in the region, it is going to be a win-win situation for more customers and households in the region,” added Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group.

Globe’s aggressive network builds and network modernization to 4G LTE and 5G has resulted in improved services to its customers nationwide.  According to Ookla®’s Q1 2021 data[1] the telco’s nationwide consistency score is now more than 70 percent.  Metro Manila registered Globe’s best score with more than 76 percent while impressive percentages were also noted in Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite, Cebu City and Davao City.

Globe strongly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) particularly UN SDG No. 9 that highlights the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development.

McDonald’s Philippines resilient during COVID-19 pandemic; primed to begin recovery in 2021

0

McDonald’s opened its ‘green store’ in U.N. Ave. part of the QSR giant’s commitment to reduce its environmental footprint and source sustainable packaging.

MANILA, Philippines – Leading quick service restaurant giant Golden Arches Development Corporation (McDonald’s Philippines), majority owned and operated by its Chairman & Founder Dr. George T. Yang and President & CEO Kenneth Yang, has carefully navigated the 2020 pandemic through its core commitment to its people and relentless pursuit to provide a frictionless customer experience.

Despite the many challenges posed by the pandemic, McDonald’s was able to leverage its business fundamentals with its safe operating culture, strong brand and community involvement, reinforcing its support to its people (employees and customers)一and fortifying its strategic investments prior to 2020 to accelerate business segments like McDelivery and Drive Thru this year.

A focus on its people

At the onset of the lockdown, McDonald’s was quick to launch the McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen through the Ronald McDonald House Charities, during the enhanced community quarantines by re-purposing the kitchens of its stores that were temporarily closed to prepare the meals of its beneficiaries, especially frontliners who work tirelessly to keep people safe, as well as communities who remain embattled and experience hunger.

Having malasakit ingrained in the company’s values, the QSR giant has served over 460,000 meals to 229 communities, 26 non-government organizations, 133 government agencies, over 250 hospitals, and 61 quarantine centers nationwide to date, and is committed to continue to serve more meals in 2021.

“Our commitment to people has always been embedded in our core values. We understand the significant role we play in ensuring that we support communities in need, especially during the most trying of times,” shares Kenneth Yang.

The company has also allotted the space of the underutilized party rooms for the use of teachers who had difficulties transitioning to distance learning. The opening of over 220 “McClassrooms” in October all over the country with free access to Wi-Fi and McCafé coffee was well received by the public during Teacher’s Month.

Pursuant to its commitment to people, McDonald’s also launched its M Safe program to ensure the safety of its employees, offices and its restaurants in order to serve customers across its different touchpoints safely. It was through the program that the company continued to operate its restaurants safely amidst the quarantine restrictions.

M Safe then became an avenue for the company to demonstrate its commitment to support the government in its bid to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus. M Safe was acknowledged by the government and other external stakeholders particularly for its initiatives, including mass testing for its own front-liners (restaurant managers and crew) and the integration of the IATF-endorsed contact tracing system, Stay Safe, across all stores.

McDonald’s further extended its support to Task Force T3, a consortium of private companies that partner with the government for its test, trace and treat initiatives against COVID-19. McDonald’s actively took part in Task Force T3’s Ingat Angat campaign, the country’s biggest consumer confidence campaign to restart the economy safely.

The QSR giant also announced that it will be providing free COVID-19 vaccines for its employees to help the government accelerate the national vaccination program.

McDonald’s Drive Thru segment has strengthened as it launched its ‘Ride-Thru’ and ‘Park-Order-Pay’ initiatives to champion customer inclusivity amid the lockdown restrictions.

Customer experience through product innovations

Responding to the impact of COVID-19 to the business, McDonald’s continued its focus on providing relevant innovations and product offerings that would allow a safe and more convenient experience for its customers.

With the rising homebound economy and the exponential growth of eCommerce, the company leveraged its McDelivery channel as a source of growth or leveraged McDelivery, cashless and other technology investments.

McDonald’s has taken this opportunity to scale its food delivery aggregator partnerships with GrabFood and foodpanda, which allowed customers more options to enjoy their favorites conveniently. This has widened the reach and exponentially increased the growth in delivery.

The company also strengthened its Drive Thru segment and championed customer inclusivity through its initiatives like Ride-Thru and Park-Order-Pay, which encourages all sorts of vehicles to experience McDonald’s in their vehicles, on-the-go.

These innovations supported by increasing cashless payment solutions in these segments, allowed McDonald’s Delivery and Drive-Thru services to grow significantly accounting for 60% of its total sales. The company also noted a 28.6% growth in cashless transactions in 2020.

Due to the limitation on public gatherings, events and celebrations were forced to be done at home. The company launched Party-To-Go and Send To Many options, enabling safe celebrations at home. McDonald’s also introduced a wide array of new products to delight its customers such as the McDo Spicy Burger, Spicy McNuggets, shakes, sundae blends and the McSpaghetti platter.

“Our priority has always been to constantly evolve and introduce innovations for our customers, and for them to enhance their safe and frictionless experience across all channels. This continued roll out of our offerings is a strategic investment as we continue to surpass difficulties and thrive during this time of initial recovery.” says President & CEO Yang.

With the rising homebound economy and eCommerce, the brand has leveraged its McDelivery channel as a source of growth.

Primed to recover in 2021

With the innovations launched in 2020, the leading QSR giant is optimistic to recover this year from the impact of COVID-19. Amid the continuous difficulties posed by the pandemic, McDonald’s was able to end 2020 with a 655-store base and the opening of 16 new stores, including the largest store in the Philippines, in Capital Town, Pampanga.

With growth between the first and second half of 2020, which carried over to Q1 of 2021, the company is bullish on gearing for recovery this year. Despite the recent reinstatement of the Enhanced Community Quarantine last March, which suspended its dine-in operations among other restrictions, McDonald’s is set to open at least 30 new stores this year.

“As we open new stores during these trying times, we are able to generate much needed job opportunities for more Filipinos and demonstrate our outlook of economic recovery in the near future.” Mr. Kenneth Yang concludes.
