SORPRESANG ininspeksyon ng mga operatiba ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) ang Bureau of Immigration Warden Facility (BIWF) sa Taguig City noong nakaraang Biyernes ng umaga na nagresulta sa pagkakasamsam sa iba’t ibang mga kontrabando.
Sa ikinasang “Greyhound Operation” ng BIWF management, mga opisyal mula sa BI Intelligence Division, at BI Anti-Terrorist Group sa tulong ng Philippine National Police National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Intelligence Division, PNP Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) at PNP NCRPO – Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB), ay nakumpiska ang iba’t ibang mga kontrabando katulad ng tablets, laptops, cellphones, alcoholic beverages, gambling paraphernalia, kitchen knives, scissors at iba pang matatalim na bagay at tools kagaya ng screwdrivers, hammers, at pliers.
Ayon kay BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, ang pagsalakay ay bahagi ng random surprise inspections para matiyak na ang pasilidad ay nananatiling drug-free at at walang illegal paraphernalia.
“This shakedown is long overdue, as the last raid that we conducted was done a year ago,” ani Morente. “Such raids are also done to ensure that there is no special treatment in PDL,” dagdag pa niya.
“While the facility is not a jail, the use of gadgets is regulated. Gambling paraphernalia are not allowed, and sharp objects are prohibited to prevent any untoward incidents,” ayon pa kay Morente. (JOEL O. AMONGO)
