“THE Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) remains …steadfast in its sworn duty to protect the Filipino people, defend the Constitution, and uphold democracy.”
Ito ang ginawang pagtiyak kahapon ng pamunuan ng Hukbong Sandatahan ng Pilipinas kaugnay sa mga isyu at katanungan hinggil sa papel na ginagampanan at responsibilidad ng AFP.
Ayon kay AFP Vice Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Jimmy Larida, patuloy na pinaalalahanan ni AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner ang mga sundalo na manatiling tapat sa watawat ng Pilipinas at gawin ang trabaho nang naaayon sa Saligang Batas.
Iginiit ni Larida na ang marching orders ni AFP Chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. sa field commanders ay maging tapat sa kanilang sinumpaang tungkulin.
“The 1987 Constitution is clear—the Armed Forces is a non-partisan institution. Section 5(3), Article XVI explicitly prohibits military personnel from engaging in political activities. Any deviation from this principle would undermine the very democracy we are bound to protect.”
“The AFP’s role is to defend the country and uphold stability, not to interfere in political matters. Any concerns about governance should be resolved through lawful and democratic means. The strength of our democracy lies in respecting institutions, following due process, ensuring justice through established legal channels, and selecting executive and legislative officials through elections,” pahayag pa ng Hukbong Sandatahan.
Tiniyak din ng Armed Forces of the Philippines na hindi magpapadala sa ingay sa pulitika ang militar. Ito ang tiniyak ni AFP Vice chief Larida sa gitna ng political noise matapos maaresto si dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Sa usapin naman ng posibleng protest rallies ngayong Biyernes, kasabay ng kaarawan ni dating Pangulong Duterte, sinabi ni Larida na kung hihilingin ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ay nakahanda silang umagapay sa usapin ng law enforcement dahil isa ito sa mandato ng AFP.
Ayon kay AFP Vice Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Jimmy Larida, mandato ng sandatahang lakas ng Pilipinas na suportahan ang pambansang pulisya sa pagtupad sa kanilang law enforcement operation.
Siniguro ng heneral na may mga ginagawa rin silang hakbang para mapanatili ng kapayapaan sa bansa subalit tumanggi itong idetalye.
