TINAWAG ni Senador Leila de Lima na iresponsable at premature ang pahayag ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte hinggil sa magiging papel ng Pilipinas sa sandaling mag-spillover sa Asya ang Russia-Ukraine War.
Iginiit ng senador na hindi tinatalakay ng mga lider ng Europa at Estados Unidos ang naturang posibilidad dahil posible itong magdulot pa ng kumplikasyon.
“The Philippine government should not be issuing statements that are counterintuitive to conflict resolution and which almost amount to sabre-rattling. The call of NATO and the US is for peace and the withdrawal of Russian forces,” saad ni de Lima.
“For the Philippines to be talking about its role in the event of the expansion of the conflict, while NATO is even steadfast in its own outright refusal to put NATO boots on Ukrainian soil, only reflects Duterte’s “utak pulbura” world-view,” dagdag pa nito.
Sinabi ni de Lima na nang sabihin ni Pangulong Duterte na handa ang bansa na ipagamit sa Estados Unidos ang mga pasilidad nito ay paglalagay sa US sa spotlight na inaasahan na ang worldwide conflict.
“Of course the US is not expected to respond to Duterte’s invitation, premature and irresponsible as it is in light of the critical nature of the US’s relations with Russia as of present,” dagdag pa ni De Lima.
Iginiit ng senador na malayo pa rin sa Southeast Asia ang sigalot maliban sa nararamdamang epekto sa ekonomiya.(Dang Samson-Garcia)
