ANG hindi maibsang paghihirap ng mga ordinaryong Pilipino sa gitna ng patuloy na quarantine ay hindi dapat suklian ng kalupitan at karahasan ng hindi karapat-dapat na tagapagpatupad ng batas.
Ito ang pahayag ni Sen. Grace Poe sa gitna ng panawagan ng hustisya ng pamilya at mga mahal sa buhay ng isang curfew violator na inihatid sa huling hantungan sa Quezon kahapon matapos diumanong gulpihin hanggang sa mamatay ng mga barangay tanod sa Laguna.
“How can they afford to torture to death their already helpless constituent amid the hunger, poverty and hopelessness gripping our communities?” pahayag ni Poe.
“The perpetrators of these acts of violence must face the full force and severity of the law,” aniya, kasabay ng pagsabing dapat managot ang immediate superior ng mga barangay tanod sa ilalim ng ‘principle of command responsibility’.
Nauna nang naiulat na isang curfew violator din sa Cavite ang namatay matapos sumailalim sa pumping exercise ng 300 beses.
“The perilous plight faced by the defenseless and vulnerable should not be further scorned by the harsh and ignominious blows from supposed ‘community protectors,'” sabi ni Poe.
“Those who wield such undue use of force and authority must receive the corresponding full weight of the penalties of our laws,” sambit ng senador.
“The people have taken more than enough beating from the ravaging pandemic. They don’t deserve any more bludgeoning from any arm of the government,” saad pa ni Poe. (ESTONG REYES)
