TARGET ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) na maipamahagi sa buong bansa ang nasa 1,500 firetrucks sa susunod na taon upang tugunan ang kakulangan sa firefighting equipment at mapalakas ang emergency response capabilities ng Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Ayon kay DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla, bibilhin ng Pilipinas ang mga firetruck sa pamamagitan ng government-to-government agreement sa Republic of Korea upang matiyak ang direkta at transparent na procurement process at maiwasan ang middlemen.
“Within one and a half years, kumpleto na lahat ang munisipyo, wala na tayong magiging problema. Kumpleto na sa buong Pilipinas,” ani Remulla.
Inihayag pa ng kalihim na direktang nakikipag-ugnayan ang Office of the President, DILG, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) at BFP sa South Korean government para sa naturang acquisition.
“This is the cleanest transaction that is possible with the best possible benefit sa lahat ng mga Pilipino,” dagdag ni Remulla.
Ginawa ng kalihim ang pahayag sa turnover ng 20 Class 1 Unified 911 emergency response motorcycles sa Police Regional Office 6 (PRO 6) sa Camp General Martin Teofilo B. Delgado sa Iloilo City.
“People should expect more. They should not expect less from their police and the BFP,” sabi ni Remulla.
