TINIYAK ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) na handa ang militar sa pagpapanatili ng seguridad at mapayapang pagdaraos ng unang Bangsamoro parliamentary elections ngayong Lunes, Setyembre 14.
Ayon kay Maj. Orlando Ayllon Jr., spokesperson ng AFP Western Mindanao Command, wala silang nakikitang partikular na banta sa halalan at nananatiling optimistiko ang militar na magiging mapayapa ang eleksyon.
“We are 100% peaceful yung election natin. Kung sa threats naman, wala tayong threats talaga na nakikita,” ani Ayllon.
Mahigit 11,000 tauhan ng AFP ang ide-deploy sa Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), partikular sa mga lugar na itinuturing na election areas of grave concern, bukod sa mga itinalaga sa polling precincts at polling centers.
Nakahanda rin ang Quick Response Force (QRF) at augmentation forces sakaling kailanganin ang karagdagang seguridad.
Sinabi ni Ayllon na nananatiling committed ang WestMinCom sa isang mapayapa, maayos at kredibleng halalan.
Samantala, sinalubong ni Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) Secretary Mel Senen S. Sarmiento ang pagdating ng 108 international observers na magmamasid sa kauna-unahang BARMM parliamentary elections.
Ayon kay Sarmiento, mahalaga ang presensya ng mga international observers bilang pagpapakita ng interes at suporta ng international community sa democratic aspirations ng Bangsamoro people.
“The first Bangsamoro parliamentary elections are a historic milestone in the Bangsamoro peace process. The presence of our international observers is a clear vote of confidence in the electoral process,” sabi ni Sarmiento.
Ang 108 observers ay kumakatawan sa 16 international organizations at delegations na magmamasid sa Cotabato City, ilang lalawigan at lungsod sa Bangsamoro region at mga kalapit na lugar.
Kabilang sa mga delegasyon ang Embassy of the State of Palestine, The Asia Foundation, EU-Coordinated Diplomacy, Worldwide Lawyers Association (WOLAS), International Republican Institute (IRI), Chinese Embassy in Manila, IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, Third Party Monitoring Team (TPMT), Australian Embassy in the Philippines, British Embassy Manila, Digital Memory Association of Türkiye, Embassy of Japan, Asian Network for Free Elections and National Democratic Institute (ANFREL/NDI), Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom Philippines/Center for Liberalism and Democracy, Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT) at International Jurists Union.
