MATAPOS kondehin ng mga mamamahayag sa Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso dahil sa kanyang alegasyon na ‘media spin” ang pagtatanong sa kanya hinggil sa nasirang flood control projects sa Matag-og Leyte, pormal na humingi ng paumanhin si Leyte Rep. Richard Gomez.
Kasabay nito, binura ni Gomez ang kanyang post at maging ang screenshot conversation sa mga kagawad ng media na humingi ng kanyang reaksyon sa pahayag ni Matag-og, Leyte Mayor Bernie Tacoy na agad nasira ang flood control projects na ipinagawa ng mambabatas.
“To the members of the press who took offense to my media post, I sincerely apologize. Sensitive information has been removed. I understand that the media endeavor to keep my side of the story, I acknowledge your efforts. I’m sorry and I could have handled it better,” ani Gomez sa kanyang privilege speech kahapon.
Ginawa ng mambabatas ang pahayag matapos maglabas ng statement ang House media para kondenahin ang malisyosong post nito sa pagkuha ng media sa kanyang panig sa alegasyon ni Tacoy.
“Mahal din itong media spin na ginagawa nila against me. Look at the similarities of the different socmed and agencies asking questions. Alam na alam mong merong nagkukumpas. Alam na alam mong ginastusan, Ayus ahhh. Gastos pa more mga ungas,” ayon sa unang post ni Gomez.
“We, members of the media covering the House of Representatives, collectively denounce the baseless and spiteful utterances from Rep. Richard Gomez (4th District, Leyte) imputing impropriety in the actions of a number of our colleagues who tried to get his side on a matter of direct bearing to his office and his constituency,” ayon sa statement ng House media.
Lalong ikinagalit ng mga kagawad ng media ang pagsasapubliko ni Gomez sa kanilang text message na bukod sa pangalan ay inilantad din ang kanilang contact number.
Samantala, matapos mag-sorry, binakbakan ni Gomez si Tacoy sa kanyang privilege speech.
