INAASAHAN ang patuloy na sibakan sa mababang kapulungan ng Kongreso sa ilalim ng administrasyon ni House Speaker Lord Allan Velaso dahil isasailalim sa evaluation ang lahat ng committee chairmen.
Sa TV interview kay Velasco, sisimulan na aniya ang pagrerebyu sa performance ng mga committee chairman sa susunod na linggo dahil may mga posisyon aniya sa Kamara na kailangan ang trust and confidence ng Speaker.
“During the recess, I will evaluate actually some of the posts and some committees and see whether they are still performing or they should be changed. But, there are actually some posts that really need changes mainly because most of the posts required the trust and confidence of the Speaker,” ani Velasco.
Sa ngayon ay tanging sina House majority leader Martin Romualdez at House appropriation committee chairman Eric Yap ang tiniyak ni Velasco na mananatili sa kanilang puwesto.
Una nang sinibak sa puwesto sina Cavite Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino bilang chairman ng House committee on accounts kung saan ipinalit sa kanya si Davao City Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte.
Tinanggal din sa puwesto ang loyal ally ni dating Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano na si Camarines Sur Rep. LRay Villafuerte bilang Deputy Speaker at ipinalit sa kanya si Oriental Mindoro Rep. Doy Leachon.
Kaugnay nito, isa sa mga handa umanong matanggalan ng chairmanship si Anakalusugan party-list Rep. Mike Defensor ng House committee on public accounts.
“The Speaker will of course choose among his supporters kung sino ang gusto niyang mapunta dito sa mga komiteng ito. Okay naman sa akin. Whatever will be the decision,” ani Defensor.
Papel ni Sara
Samantala, inamin ni House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco na malaki ang naging papel ni Presidential daughter at Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio para makuha niya ang suporta ng mayorya sa kongresista at liderato ng Kamara mula kay Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano.
“I believe Mayor Sara really has a lot of influence not only in Congress but in a lot of areas also. With her party Hugpong ng Pagbabago joining or endorsing my speakership, definitely I believe it was a tipping point,” ani Velasco.
Handa rin umano si Velasco na suportahan si Mayor Duterte kapag nagpasya itong tumakbo sa 2022 presidential election. (BERNARD TAGUINOD)
