AMINADO si Defense Secretary Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. na mataas ang pamantayang iiwan ni AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S. Brawner Jr. para sa susunod na mamumuno sa Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Ayon kay Teodoro, malaking hamon para sa susunod na AFP chief ang ipagpatuloy ang mga repormang sinimulan ni Brawner.
“Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. has set a high standard for the next chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines,” ani Teodoro.
Sa panayam matapos ang pagdiriwang ng ika-79 anibersaryo ng Philippine Air Force, tumanggi ang kalihim na sabihin kung may inirekomenda na siyang posibleng kapalit ni Brawner kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Giit ni Teodoro, tanging ang Pangulo lamang ang may kapangyarihang pumili ng susunod na AFP chief.
Dagdag pa niya, ang susunod na mamumuno sa AFP ay kailangang hindi lamang maipagpatuloy ang legacy ni Brawner kundi mahigitan pa ang ipinakita nitong pamumuno sa lokal at internasyonal na antas.
“With less than a month before the change, that is for the President to decide. The choice of the chief of staff is unique among all positions in the Armed Forces, so we will wait for the President’s decision,” ani Teodoro.
