ARESTADO ang dalawang Chinese nationals kasama ang dalawa pang Filipino helper nito matapos salakayin ng mga tauhan ng Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) ang isang warehouse kung saan nakumpiska ang mga pekeng sigarilyo na aabot sa mahigit P32 million sa Barangay Borol 2nd, Balagtas, Bulacan nitong Lunes ng gabi.
Ayon kay Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius D. Ferro, CIDG Director, ang mga kontrabando ay narekober sa isang warehouse sa Zone 6, By Pass Road, Barangay Borol 2nd at pag-aari umano ng mga dayuhang sina Zeng Qiangjian, 42, residente ng Bigaa, San Juan, Balagtas at Lin Shanxiong, 48, ng Stella Maris Avenue, Maybunga, Pasig City. Kasama ng mga itong inaresto ang 2 katulong na sina John Bejay Agujar, 25, ng Brgy. Tabon, Pulilan at Rodolfo Brosas, 45, ng Brgy. Malis, Guiguinto.
Ayon kay Ferro, ang operasyon ay isinagawa ng CIDG detectives kasama ang mga kinatawan mula sa Philip Morris Philippines Manufacturing Inc. at Japan Tobacco International Inc. (JTI).
Natagpuan sa nabanggit na warehouse ang 1,346 boxes ng smuggled and fake tobacco products na mayroong brand na Marlboro Lights and Red, Marvel cigarettes, Jackpot, Union, Cambo Fortune Blue and Green, Mighty Green, Two Moon, D&B cigarettes na umaabot sa halagang P32,305,000.00.
Kumpiskado rin ng mga operatiba ang isang Isuzu Elf truck at mga P1,000 bill na nagsilbing boodle money.
“This police operation is in line with the directive of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to conduct an extensive and massive police operation against counterfeit and smuggled goods in the country and by order of the Chief PNP P/Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar of having intensified law enforcement operations to dissuade economic saboteurs from further adding cause to our declining economy,” ayon kay Ferro.
Mga kasong violation of Sec. 155.1 RA 8293 (Intellectual Property Rights), Sec. 168 RA 8293 (Unfair Competition) Sec. 169 RA 8293 (False Designation of Origin) and Customs Modernization and Tariff Act ang kahaharapin ng mga suspek. (ELOISA SILVERIO)
